COUNSELING
Pacific Center provides high quality, LGBT sensitive, mental health services at affordable sliding scale fees.  Medi-Cal payments are accepted. Our services include:

Our counselors can help you with coming out, anxiety, depression, and other mental health needs.  We also provide referrals for other providers as appropriate.

CLINICAL TRAINING PROGRAM
Pacific Center is currently accepting applications for the 2008-09 trainee and internship program.  Graduate level psychology and social work trainees and interns receive valuable training working with our highly diverse LGBT population. Our year long program meets all Board of Behavioral Health requirements for licensure. Interns are supervised by licensed mental health therapists who generously donate their time.

YOUTH PROGRAM
LGBT youth ages 13-23 living in Berkeley, Oakland and the surrounding communities can find support and information through Pacific Center.  Our services include:

• Gay-Straight Alliance Club Support
Pacific Center provides tools, information, leadership training, and organizing support for school-based Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs in Berkeley and Oakland high schools.  GSA activities include outreach, monthly movie nights, workshops, dances, and educational campaigns.  Contact our Youth Coordinator for more information. 

• Social Activities and Events

• "LOUD" LGBTQ Youth Program
Weekly Events "Movies, Art, Activism, Education, Food, Friends and FUN!" every Thursday 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Pacific Center Call or email Rachel at 510.548.8283 ext 514

• Outreach and Workshops
Staff and trained youth speakers can provide LGBT issues training and information for your organization.  Through a structured curriculum, participants will learn LGBT 101 basics and gain a better understanding of meeting the unique needs of LGBT youth.

• Safer Schools Project
Youth share their personal coming out stories and inform others about LGBT youth issues and needs!  Become a trained speaker and workshop leader by joining a team of young people improving their schools and communities one place at a time.  

• Mental Health Counseling

GROUPS
Several ongoing, drop-in peer groups meet weekly at the Pacific Center to provide support and friendship for our community. Group members are requested to make a $5 to $20 donation per group meeting.

A support group for gay and bisexual men who are married or were once married seeking peer support.

Thursday
Senior Men’s Afternoon           1:30pm – 3:30pm
(2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month)

A social and discussion group for senior men.
co-sponsored with Lavender Seniors

Express 20's                                      8pm – 10pm
Discussion group for gay, bi, or questioning men in their 20's in the East Bay.

Friday
Transgender Support Group        8pm – 9:30pm
A support group for transgender women and men seeking peer support.

• Clinical Outreach at the Steamworks
Every Friday evening from 5pm to 8pm, Steamworks patrons can speak with a psychotherapist on a wide range of issues and receive referrals for ongoing mental health and substance use needs.   

• Educational Workshops

• HIV Antibody Testing

RESOURCE CENTER
Pacific Center offers a resource center complete with LGBT publications, newspapers, and bulletin board postings. Additionally, you can ask a front desk volunteer to help you locate a resource through our computerized resource database.

Feel free to drop by the Center or call at (510) 548-8283. We're open Monday through Friday from 4pm to 10pm.
