Founded in 1973, Pacific Center is the oldest LGBTQIA+ center in the Bay Area, the third oldest in the nation, and operates the only sliding scale mental health clinic for LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC people and their families in Alameda County. Pacific Center offers low cost individual, couples, and family mental health services; HIV support services; peer support groups; and vibrant youth and older adult programs.

 

POSITION TITLE: Clinical Director

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Clinical Director reports directly to the Executive Director, works in conjunction and partnership with other Director level and Program Management staff to support cross-agency programming, and acts as a thought partner and trusted advisor on organizational initiatives.

 

The Clinical Director (CD):

  • Provides oversight for clinical programming and ensures all clinical programming  both aligns with organizational values and meets California State regulatory guidelines for clinical practice. 

  • Supervises a diverse staff consisting of trainee, Associate, and Licensed clinicians and support staff who deliver clinical services. 

  • Is a leader responsible for implementing policies, evaluating program efficacy, and collaborating with other staff to ensure sustainability of Pacific Center’s Clinical Services. 

  • Is the final determinant of compliance with laws, regulations, duties of care, and evaluation of interns at Pacific Center and is required to work in partnership with Clinical Supervisors, Clinical Staff, Clinical Interns, and Pacific Center Staff to ensure robust Clinical compliance. 

 

Required Qualifications & Experience (Candidates Must Meet all of the Following: 

  1. Must be a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of California.

  2. Possess at least 2 years of active Clinical experience within the last 5 years OR having supervised MFT Trainees, AMFTs, APCCs, or ACSWs who perform psychotherapy during at least two (2) years out of the last five (5) years.

  3. Meet minimum guidelines for Supervision set by the Board of Behavioral Sciences [see Pub. “STATUTES AND REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE PRACTICE OF: PROFESSIONAL CLINICAL COUNSELING MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY CLINICAL SOCIAL WORK”].

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Have familiarity, allyship, and/or identity affinity with LGBTQIA+ communities of the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

CLINICAL SERVICES: 

The CD leads Pacific Center’s clinical services, which includes a robust clinical training program and clinical supervisor support, an HIV Counseling Program, and cross supervision of the Older Adult Counseling and Support Program (in conjunction with the Director of Community Programs), and collaboration with DEI Training Program Manager to integrate DEI and clinical training frameworks.

 

This position guides and supports all Clinical Staff and the Clinical Training Program, promoting effective and sustainable functioning of the roles and programs as outlined below:

  • Intake & Quality Assurance Manager (Assignment, Authorization, Chart Review, Documentation, MediCal Referral, HIPAA Compliance, Waitlisting)

  • Clinical Administrative Assistant (Contract Documentation, Medi-Cal Billing, Clinical Training Application and Selection Process)

  • HIV Program Manager (Program Management and Reporting)

 

ORGANIZATIONAL & ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES:

  • Proactively advance Pacific Center’s Mission, Values, and DEI Values, Goals, & Practices

  • Collaborate with Pacific Center Staff to support cross-agency initiatives, programming, and budget management

  • Work with Executive Director and staff on evaluation, budgeting, and strategic planning 

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week | Compensation: $85,000 - 95,000 DOE
